Letter to Recorder
Letter submitted to Ilford Recorder yesterday
Dear Letters Editor
We urge Redbridge Labour to think again about proposed cuts that will drive the disabled and poor further into poverty.
The Ilford Recorder has recently reported on the devastating impact of the planned cuts to the Disabled Asian Women's Network will have upon marginalised women. Further cuts to the Redbridge Council Tax reduction scheme will drive the poor, including the disabled poor, deeper into poverty.
Stoke On Trent Live have reported that Stoke on Trent City Council will bring in new charges for second homes and Airbnbs which are due to raise an additional £596,000 council tax from April 2025 to help fund services: perhaps this is something Redbridge Labour could consider.
Tower Hamlets Council has announced a Winter Fuel Payment for its poor pensioners of £175, another policy that Redbridge Labour could take on board..
Join us outside Redbridge Town Hall on the 27th February at 6:30pm before the Council budget is set to say no these nasty cuts.
